Summer Hair

Summer brings sunshine, beach days, and care-free vibes! Between UV rays, humidity, saltwater, and chlorine, your strands are up against a lot. Whether you’re dealing with dryness, frizz, or color fading, here’s your ultimate guide to keeping your hair healthy and beautiful all summer long!

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Just like your skin, your hair gets thirsty too! The sun and heat can make your hair feel dry and brittle. But we can easily help with that! Once a week, use a hair mask to help restore that lost moisture and protein. My favorite hair mask is the “Formula 18” mask that instantly repairs the hair! Stay clear of heavy products in your hair during the summer, and stick to moisture rich formulas that won’t weigh your hair down.

If you’re like me, I LOVE to swim in the pool and the ocean! So I am a pro when it comes to taking care of my hair in the summer! Saltwater and chlorine can cause dryness and even discoloration, especially for all of you beautiful blondes! Before I go swimming in the pool, I always get my hair wet first! This is going to help your hair from absorbing salt or chlorine. To create a barrier, I will saturate my hair with the “Formula 18” leave-in conditioner. And after, I always rinse and shampoo with a clarifying shampoo (my go to is the “Formula 18” purifying shampoo) and use a deep conditioner!

Humidity can turn even the smoothest strands into a puffball. But there are ways to keep frizz under control. Use sulfate-free shampoos that won’t strip natural oils. Apply an anti-frizz serum or smoothing cream on damp hair. Embrace air-drying or use a microfiber towel to reduce friction and prevent frizz.

Try to stay clear of using heat tools on your hair during the summer! Your hair goes through a lot in the summer, so we want to keep the heat styling to a minimum. But if you are, make sure you are using a great heat protectant (which you already do use because you are amazing)! 🙂

Lastly, make sure you are keeping up with your regular hair trims! Summertime can cause dry and split ends faster, especially if you are spending time in the sun or swimming! I always recommend trims every 6-8 weeks! Regular maintenance helps prevent breakage and promotes growth.

Summer doesn’t have to be a bad hair season. With a few extra steps in your routine and some mindful care, you can enjoy the sun, sand, and sea AND keep your hair looking gorgeous. Stay hydrated, shield your strands, and don’t forget to indulge in a little extra TLC.

Here’s to great hair days all summer long!
